Things are shifting around in the Taco Tuesday rankings, my friends. Big things are happening.
Before you become alarmed: my beloved Taqueria del Sol is still number one. However, my next favorite taco spot is now kind of a toss up between the fish tacos at Holy Taco (review to come) and Escorpion.
Escorpion is a mildly unassuming little place in Midtown, right by The Fox Theatre. We had tickets to Blue Man Group (which was so much fun), so we decided to grab a few pre-show tacos.
The outdoor seating is the perfect spot to enjoy Atlanta’s spring weather while people-watching and while munching on Mexican. The salsa: garlicky and delicious. Margaritas: also good. A little steep at $7, but they were tasty and fresh. And we ordered two each.
But the star of the show was the taco menu, which has seafood options galore, including fried fish, baja fish and grilled salmon. I opted for one fried fish and one grilled salmon, and loved both. The grilled salmon makes a great summer dish because it comes with mango and a zesty citrus vinagrette, and the fried fish hit all the marks with its chipotle mayo, which I’m still dreaming of.
If you have tickets for a show at The Fox and are looking for a pre-show, meal, I’d recommend heading to Escorpion. And if you don’t have tickets, I still suggest making the trip. It’s spring, y’all; savor it.
